National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) is planning to construct the Amochu Reservoir Hydroelectric Power Plant project in Dorokha, Bhutan.

The project involves the construction of a 540MW hydroelectric power plant, 250m height dam, head race tunnel of about 1,000m long with a diameter of nine meters with two spillways, pressure shaft, diversion flood tunnel of 1,200m, powerhouse, substation and access roads.

The Bhutan Government and India Government have signed an agreement to construct Amochu Reservoir project at Dorokha, Bhutan in early 2009.

The Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for the project was prepared by the NTPC. Most of the drilling and drifting works was completed in March 2011.
