Reduce, reuse, recycle: Trends encouraging the use of sustainable materials and reducing carbon emissions will benefit the industry

Nonferrous Metal Recycling
The Nonferrous Metal Recycling industry recovers nonferrous metals from scrap and reprocesses them into inputs for downstream manufacturers. Industry performance faltered over the five years to 2018, due to poor operating conditions and weakening demand from several key markets, particularly energy, machinery manufacturing and exports. Industry revenue is primarily a function of nonferrous metal prices, which plummeted for much of the five-year period due to decelerating growth in emerging economies and global overcapacity. However, revenue is expected to return to growth moving forward, as the price of nonferrous metals is expected to increase over the five years to 2023.

This industry recovers copper, aluminum, lead and other nonferrous metals from scrap and then manufactures primary forms (e.g. bar, billet, bloom, cake, ingot, slab, slug and wire) from the recovered metals through secondary smelting and refining processes.

This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
