This IDC study presents the actual IT spending in 2019 and 2020, and the IT spending forecast from 2021 to 2025 by industry segment, company size, and annual turnover in the Japan IT market. This report also analyzes IT spending by dividing the industries into 21 categories, company size and product segments into five categories, and annual turnover into four categories, and discusses IT spending trends observed in each industry segment.Working from home, teleworking, distance learning, telemedicine, online shopping, online events, and online meetings, which are becoming more prevalent during the COVID-19 pandemic, are gaining recognition as instruments to connect people who cannot gather because of time, distance, or cost constraints in addition to the consideration of preventing the risk of infection through face-to-face contact and meetings in closed spaces. Many people realize that new connections with people through IT, which could not be achieved in the past, have the potential to create new value."Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, IT is serving as an instrument to connect people and organizations in new ways. It is important for IT suppliers to consider together with user companies how IT can bring new values to different industries and provide support in each industry," says Akira Muranishi, group manager, IT Spending, IDC Japan.
