This IDC study provides an analysis of the 2019 vendor share and vendor trends in the overall Japan network equipment market -- by product segment, which includes Ethernet switches, routers, and enterprise wireless LAN equipment -- and by user segment. Cisco Systems gained more than half of the market share in 2019, highlighting its strength in the overall network equipment market. Even in the enterprise network equipment market, Cisco Systems secured nearly 50% share as well. Yamaha remained second only to Cisco Systems because of the increased revenue in the router market. In addition, Allied Telesis has grown significantly in the enterprise wireless LAN equipment market, and strengthening wireless LAN solutions has come to fruition."Enterprise network equipment vendors should consider shifting to a business-oriented product strategy for managed network service providers. With the increasing tendency toward enterprise managed services, the impact on the network equipment market will increase, and it is more important than ever to develop products from the perspective of what enterprise network solutions should be in order to be selected by managed service providers," says Kenichi Kusano, group manager, Communications, IDC Japan.
