This IDC Perspective discusses drastic changes in the world of work during 2020 and the challenges organizations are facing as a result. Many of these challenges are related to unpreparedness to face new realities due to the work culture; technological solutions that address such challenges were perhaps not as widely adopted or well established beyond some pioneering and innovative use cases. Organizations need to address several critical areas if they are to emerge stronger from the crisis, fully prepared to face the next normal and adjust to the new reality. This document explores use cases in the most pressing challenges: monitoring and supporting mental health, fostering team spirit, and implementing remote/hybrid management models. "Employers now have a responsibility to ensure that they provide the workforce with technology and mental health tools to enable them to remain engaged, motivated, and fit enough to contribute to company growth," said Sharon McNee, research manager, IDC Europe.
